Breathing Malady "Asthma"
Asthma is a complex respiratory disease characterized by episodes of breathing difficulties along with or without cough, wheezing, tightness of chest. During the breathing attack the air passage gets obstructed, inflamed and constricted leading to reduced air intake and flow. Etiological cause of asthma is broadly categorized in genetic, environmental and medical factors. Asthma attack may be triggered due to various physical, mental and environmental factors including bacterial-viral infections, smoking, GERD, recurrent cold-cough, humid weather, pollution, allergens like dust-pollens, exertion.

- Allergic asthma (Extrinsic) : due to allergic responses to certain drugs, pollens, dust, food, etc. 
  Usually occurs in childhood with or without family history and often precede by atopic dermatitis / 
  eczema. 
- Infective asthma (Intrinsic) : occurs due to acute or recurrent bacterial, viral infections. Is least 
  associated with heredity or allergic responses. 
- Occupational asthma : usually occurs in individual’s who work in chemical industries like biological 
  detergents, toluene, polyurethane, flour, asbestos, cement,etc.
- Psychological asthma : stress, anxiety and emotions are considered as sole trigger and 
  precipitating factor.

1. Frequent use of certain medications. 
2. Vaccines
3. Caesarean sections
4. Asthma in family
5. Recurrent cold-cough
6. Smoking
