Normalcy in thyroid function test suggest that the thyroid has no functional abnormality, i.e. it produces just the required quantities of hormones. The next step is, in case the gland is enlarged and there is a single or multiple nodules is to rule out a tumor. For this some test like thyroid scan, ultrasound or FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) may be done to establish the diagnosis.
