MURDER OF RIGHTS: SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! I’m writing this with tears in my eyes and ache in my heart. Students of “JNU”, “AMU”, “JAMIA” are being treated as “CRIMINALS”. Being a Final Year Law Student, I read and believe in “INDIAN CONSTITUTION”. But today I saw all the four organs (Legislature, Executive, Judiciary and Media) working against the principles engraved in the Constitution. Today I witnessed the murder of “RIGHTS” in Jamia Millia Islamia University with my bare eyes. The so called saviour and protector of society, “POLICE” breached all boundaries today, thrashed and shot students of Jamia University. “POLICE” attacked students with “LATHI” and fired “TEAR GAS” at them. Hundreds of Students were detained. Can’t we Protest peacefully? “ARTICLE 19” (1) (a) of Constitution guarantees “FREEDOM OF SPEECH & EXPRESSION”. It has some restrictions but that’s not the topic of today’s discussion.
We all know that after the passage of “CITIZENSHIP AMENDMENT BILL” from both the houses it received President’s assent on 12th of December and became Citizenship Amendment Act. Nationwide protests are being held. Reportedly few peoples were “SHOT” in State of “ASSAM” couple of days back. Today students were “SHOT” in Jamia, “DELHI” People performing “NAMAZ” were brutally beaten up inside Mosque. Tomorrow shots can be fired at “YOU”, if you will raise voice against “STATE”. The day is not far away when “YOU” will have to face the same atrocities. “SHAKIR”, a student of Jamia has been “SHOT” today while protesting. We are heading towards a “TOTALITARIAN STATE”.
We all witnessed the atrocities in “KASHMIR”. We often criticized stone pelters in Kashmir. We didn’t really care. Some of us did but not the whole nation, as we are standing against CAA now. Little did we know that whole “INDIA” will turn into “KASHMIR” and its citizens will turn into “STONE PELTERS”. What’s the formula of turning any state into “KASHMIR”? Actually it’s very easy, infringe the “RIGHTS”, brutally attack the “CITIZENS” who protest, Shutdown “COMMUNICATION”, and impose “144 Cr.P.C.” Congrats your “KASHMIR” is ready. The same pattern is being imposed. A sense of “BIGOTRY” and “PREJUDICE”, “INTOLERANCE” and “HATRED” is being injected. The “DIVIDE AND RULE” policy of “BRITISHERS” is being used again and again.
The “CITIZENSHIP AMENDMENT ACT”, seeks to provide benefits to victims of persecution. However, the Act creates a division between the persecuted on the basis of “RELIGION” and nationality of “ORIGIN”. This is in clear violation “FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS”, “BASIC STRUCTURE” and “SPIRIT OF THE CONSTITUTION”. People need to remember “INDIA” is a “SECULAR” State. Basically to sum up, a “SRI LANKAN TAMIL” who has fled Sri Lanka because of extreme religious persecution or a “ROHINGYA MUSLIM” who has fled Myanmar to escape genocide, will not be granted sanctuary under this act. Whereas, a “PAKISTANI HINDU” who has fled Pakistan for exactly the same reason will be granted “CITIZENSHIP”.
