Cheraman Juma Mosque is the First Indian Mosque..!!
India’s first mosque in Kerala was built by the companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on orders by Cherman. The mosque is named after the king as Cheraman Juma Mosque and was built in 629 AD, which makes it the oldest mosque in the Indian Subcontinent and is still in use.
It was built by Malik Deenar, Persian companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Who came along with Cheraman from Arabia on the orders of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
On the instructions of the successor of Chermam Perumal, the Chera King of modern-day Kerala build the Cheraman Juma Mosque. The mosque was constructed in Kerala style with hanging lamps, making the historicity of its date claims more convincing.
